How Beefriendly Skincare is Supporting the Environment & How You Can Too
Written by Holistic Health Coach, Lisa Horgan
World Environment day is upon us. It's an opportunity to reflect on our lives and the impact we're having on the world around us. Our planet is suffering greatly right now, and this current pandemic is a stark reminder of how vulnerable we are to the effects of our environment.
Being aware is important, but we must also engage in order to create positive change. Problem is, people who care deeply about the environment, also tend to be empaths who are sensitive to the world around them. This may lead to feelings of overwhelm, frustration, disempowerment, and even anger towards others who don’t appear to be feeling the same.
Eco anxiety is real, and certainly on the rise as more information comes to light.
Shift our focus towards things we can control and look at ways in which we can contribute in a positive way. Find those people who are making a more positive impact, join forces with them.
With this in mind, I wanted to highlight some of the many ways that Beefriendly (your favorite skincare brand!) is contributing towards a better planet and brighter future.
“These are exceptional times in which nature is sending us a message: To care for ourselves we must care for nature”
1. Beefriendly supports healthy bee populations
There are many threats facing the bee population, such as climate change and habitat loss, but one of the most pressing has to be pesticides. Ironically, pesticides are widely used on crops to protect them from pests, but these very chemicals are also responsible for killing the bees. This is madness!
Bees are crucial to the environment, so it's essential to protect hives that are thriving. By supporting healthy bee populations the beekeepers, who Beefriendly Skincare supports, try their best to ensure that the bees are only exposed to organic orchards or surrounding land that hasn’t been sprayed by pesticides or harsh chemicals.
They strategically place their hives in areas, knowing the chances of bringing only Organic pollen back to the hive is extremely high. How cool is that!
2. Organic Ingredients
Beefriendly also supports a plethora of other organic ingredients that support regenerative agriculture, which in turn supports healthy soils and a thriving ecosystem.
Also, by supporting organic crops they're promoting clean water, as many conventional crops lead to chemical runoff that can pollute waterways, ecosystems, and the health of the planet overall.
3. Recyclable packaging
All of Beefriendly packaging is recyclable and they often hear of many inspiring customers who up-cycle their packaging. Their pots actually make great mini planters, simply drill a hole in the bottom and use to start seeds or plant succulents!
What you can do
1. Be mindful about what you consume
How we spend our money matters. Every purchase, again, no matter how small is a powerful vote for what we want more of. We have so much power as consumers. Thriving businesses depend solely upon their custom. So it's really important that we take a look at what we buy and where we buy it from. When you’re making a buying decision look for transparency, look for companies that are doing things right, and supporting the environment, those who choose to be part of the solution, not part of the problem.
2. Share your voice online
Digital activism - Social media is so powerful if you feel moved to share or express your concern go for it. If you like what a company is doing then support them, share with friends and family, this will also cause a huge ripple effect.
3. Get creative
Upcycle one of our pots, take a picture, use powerful social media hashtags like #worldenvironmentday and #gogreen, share your new-found knowledge. Now isn’t the time to shy away, step forward, and be a voice for positive change, if you feel called to.
Your actions don’t have to be huge to be effective. The simple, small, everyday actions are just as impactful. Inspire others to do the same by setting an example. Remember, and most importantly, positive change requires a positive mindset, so self-care is paramount. Do the best you can within your current, personal circumstances, and trust that mother nature will take care of the rest.
